AP INFORMATION
Ability Points (AP) are bankable, spendable points that players may earn with bonus activity. AP is meant to be difficult to earn and act as a supplement to the game and your play in it. They can be exchanged for skill upgrades and item requisitions and may even come into play during missions and plot. AP in your character's bank can be spent at any time; think of them as your trump card or an ace up your sleeve. AP give you the OOC flexibility to do some Really Cool Stuff without permanently breaking the game's mechanics. However, be aware that using AP doesn't absolve your character or the game from the consequences of whatever action they might take with it. Bank and spend your AP wisely!
During every activity check, you may turn in additional threads to earn AP. Please make sure any thread you turn in for AP doesn't overlap with the comments you've used for your AC either in that month or in any prior activity checks. 1AP will be awarded for every 30 comments beyond AC, with the following restrictions:
- • Only 1 AP can be earned from using only telepathy link comments.
• A second AP can be earned with up to 15 telepathy link comments, with the remainder being made up of action comments.
• A maximum of 3 AP points can be earned every month.
To spend AP, look over the AP Shop below and decide what you want. However, while you can spend your AP points at any time there are some limitations on how you use them as dictated by your character's IC actions. They are:
- • To apply AP to symbiote skills, growth must be reflected by in character action. If your character isn’t actively exploring the bond with their symbiote or the nest in character, you can’t simply level them up OOCly. Characters must be making an IC effort to learn and hone their relationship with the symbiote and/or Nest. It’s okay for them to doubt themselves or their reasons, but the skill use must be a conscious decision.
• If you use AP to purchase Skill Advancement you must link six samples of your character using symbiote skills, at least three with the character ICly pursuing concepts that tie directly to the ability enhacement in question. (ex. using their symbiote ability, attempting to learn a new language, etc). This is not necessary if you purchase Sub-Skill Advancements.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Upgrading a Sub-Skill type three times will trigger an automatic upgrade to the Host's Skill Rank. Further, upgrading three Skill Types three times will trigger an automatic upgrade to the Host's overall Nest Connection. This carries with it the permanent downsides(?) of strengthening Nest connections.
When it comes to requesting items from a character's canon, the item must meet the following requirements:
- • The item must be something that a past version of the character could have carried over with them - meaning it must have been something in the character's possession and is limited in size. Shinji Ikari can't carry his robot, but a version of Garrus Vakarian could have feasibly brought his sniper rifle with him.
• The item must be able to self maintain without outside assistance - meaning no animals since they require being fed and watered, while most items can safely gather dust without becoming a skeleton.

Intended Use: Sam has been hardcore using his symbiote ability and exploring how it works specifically related to how it activates and controlling it, so I'd like to level up that part of his ability! From his app, the next tier of control is:
(+) His level of control has a minor increase - he can now manage to only use enough energy from him or the other person to essentially "split" whatever ails one of them. One person's pneumonia becomes both of them having a head cold, a broken ankle on one of them becomes a sprained ankle on both of them, etc.
(-) The more serious the injury/illness/fatigue, or the more emotionally attached Sam is to the person he's using it on, the more automatic his ability is. If it's a cut on a stranger, he can pretty much ignore it - but multiple broken bones on a brood member or a close friend, and he won't be able to stop it. It's still one-way and one-time, and he's still unable to heal chronic or potentially fatal conditions.

Intended Use: Looking at increasing Sam's skill in telepathy, specifically when it comes to level of control and clarity! He's been purposefully focusing on his relationship with the symbiote and making a personalized kind of shield to help him control what he gives out and takes in, as well as kind of accidentally exploring it when it comes to improving the clarity of his communication, especially feelings/sensations. From the symbiote skills guide, I'd also like to have that go along with beginning to have the side effect of finding it a little too easy to bleed clearer things out to his broodmates.

Intended Use: I did the first half of this back in October, but I'd like to move him the rest of the way up to Rank II for Sam's healing ability! He's, uh. Gestures at this whole training post of varying disasters. The second part of his Rank II from his app is:
(+) Sam's conditional endurance and healing has been boosted further, allowing him to recover from anything he heals using his ability an additional 1/2 faster than normal symbiote enhancement. The range for using his ability has increased somewhat, enabling him to use it from a distance of about 3 feet from a brood member, or about 1 foot from a host in another brood or a non-host.
(-) Using his ability from a short distance isn't automatic, but it's also more difficult, and can result in headaches, nosebleeds, and increased fatigue. Any injury he gets not as a result of using his ability heals at the normal rate.

Intended Use: I'd like to get him a physical skill to go along with all the flying and honing his physical enhancements he's been doing! I'd like to modify his lungs slightly to make them able to function at higher altitudes, including being able to pull more oxygen from thinner air and cope with colder temperature/decreased air pressure. His are already pretty acclimitized due to his specialized wingpack use but I'm looking to push that further! Essentially I'd like him to be able to fly at roughly the altitude of a fighter jet.

Intended Use: Looking to bump him up to Telepathy Rank II! I did this half way for him back in January but he's... slowly becoming more and more enmeshed with people not his broodmates (thank you brood miaplacidus. and gacrux. and castor.) and his bleedover with them is extensive, so it's probably time to make it official.

Intended Use: I don't even know if this is a thing that's possible, but I'd like to build on his shielding/telepathy and give him the ability to extend his shields! Essentially he'd be able to extend his shielding to another Host of lower telepathy skill than him and boost their shields temporarily (for roughly 15 minutes or so). This will be easier with broodmates and other Hosts he already has a strong connection with, and will come at the price increasing their connection to each other even more as well as making it so it's harder to shield things from each other. The more times he uses it with someone, the stronger their connection will be.

Intended Use: Not sure if this is something that would work, but essentially I'm looking for a slight boost to charm here. Sam's already reasonably good at active listening, appearing non-confrontational and non-judgement and making people feel comfortable, and he's attempted to use these to get gossip and information from people on both Concordia and Waypoint. I'd like to take it a step further and give him a boost to make people more likely to feel comfortable talking to him and feel like they can trust him - either a passive low level aura or something like can be activated for 15 minutes a few times a day, whichever might make more sense if this is something that can be done.

Intended Use: Looking to add a diagnosing component to his healing ability! At the moment he's achieved enough control to be able to hold his ability back from automatically healing people, but I'd like to add kind of a milder form of this and give him the ability to "scan" people. Essentially he'll be able to feel where someone is injured/sick/etc and tell how bad it is. The scan won't tell him "broken arm" or "poison" but he'll be able to feel "bad injury located in the arm" or "something off in the bloodstream." From there he'll have to use his own medical knowledge or the medical knowledge of those around him to extrapolate what it might be.
Essentially he'll be a nice portable piece of medical equipment.

Intended Use: Yet another branch off from his healing ability. Basically giving him a little bit more control on a finer level, to be able to hold his ability back so it only takes the pain of an injury/sickness/etc instead of healing it. This will follow the same rules of his healing ability in that he'll take on any pain he removes from other people, and the same is true in reverse.
