PREMISE

SOMETHING came to find you where you live. Whatever shape it took was alien and powerful and it wanted you; it didn’t care what or who or how many stood in your way to get to you. You were going to die and maybe so were your friends, the people you call family, your home, your world. --And then a stranger came to rescue you from it. A hand extended and you accepted. That's the last thing you know of your home, of the person you used to be.

NOW you are a host for a symbiotic organism. The pair of you are a node in a greater hivemind of an entity known as the Nest. As a part of the Nest, it’s now your duty to help them defend the multiverse from the same threat that came to your doorstep and brought you here. Nominally a peace keeping body, the Nest seeks out chaos and unrest in the multiverse - physical, political, or otherwise - and looks to bring order and prosperity. The good news: your symbiote imbues you with abilities to help you with your mission. Further, by doing your part to rid the multiverse of chaos there is a hope that one day you may be able to return home without endangering everything you know and love. But be warned - these skills and the success of your mission come with a price. For the closer your relationship becomes with your symbiote, the better you know your new team, and the more power you obtain in the pursuit of saving everyone, the less of an individual you become.

What are you willing to SACRIFICE in the name of peace?

RULES

In most cases, Station 72 follows a THREE STRIKES YOU’RE OUT system, meaning a player may receive two warnings before further problem behavior results in a removal from the game. However the mods reserve the right to eject a player from the game at any time without prior warning should the need arise.

BE EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER. It’s the golden rule - treat others like you’d want to be treated; love your neighbor as yourself; don’t be a dick, etc. Due to the intensely personal nature of the game’s IC environment, it is extremely important that players treat one another with respect and dignity. Being communicative, trusting in each other’s out of character good intentions, and being flexible and willing to play ball with new and weird ideas are the foundation of making this game work. Harassment, bullying, and lack of respect for fellow players will not be tolerated.

FOLLOW GENERAL RP ETIQUETTE AND COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS. Be courteous, be active and ic, in character action equals in character consequences but ic doesn’t equal ooc, don’t godmod, no infomodding or fourthwalling without permission from other players, use content warnings, etc. Lastly, remember that if you are experiencing a lack of clarity or have concerns about something happening either icly or oocly, the first step is to always communicate with each other first. If that doesn't resolve the problem, the mods are happy to assist further.

BE RESPECTFUL OF GUIDELINES ESTABLISHED BY YOUR FELLOW PLAYERS AND MODS. The telepathic connection and ‘shared experience’ concepts of Station72 allow for a certain reasonable level of character-to-character infomodding; however, it’s up to each player to dictate how much of their character’s knowledge and information is available for other characters to access. Please be diligent and careful about respecting the wishes of your fellow players and be considerate of revision should someone ask you to do so! OOC-to-IC infomodding - such as characters somehow knowing certain events will happen in advance because of an event timeline posted oocly - is, of course, prohibited.

BE FLEXIBLE. All the above said and done, all players should come into the game ready to play ball with each other. The very nature of this game is based on breaking down walls your character has psychologically, emotionally, etc. While you are free to set your own limitations in terms of what other characters may come to learn through their connection to yours, please be reasonable with your restrictions! Do your best to keep the open communication spirit of the game in mind with your play and when outlining your permissions.

WHAT GENRE IS THIS GAME? WHAT THEMES WILL IT EXPLORE? IS THERE AN OVERARCHING PLOT? Station 72 is a panfandom sci-fi space opera game which takes place across a multiverse of settings and time periods accessible by a hub zone known as Station 72. It features strong themes of shared experience, the meaning of individuality and identity, psychological transformation, and some existential horror. We ask that all players be aged 18 or above.

Station 72 is motivated by character and the exploration of individuality in tandem with a greater whole; the metaplot will work to engage those same ideas. As such, how metaplot strings together and is triggered will be heavily dependent on the actions of player characters.

WHAT'S THE IC TO OOC TIME SCALE? HOW IS THE GAME PACED? WHAT'S THE IC TIMEKEEPING SYSTEM? At the best of times, Station 72 has a baseline ratio of 1 ooc week:2 ic days. However, depending on the intensity of in-game plot and player needs, this may periodically fluctuate. Game pace is designed for medium paced play with a focus on character development and plot action.

In character, time is kept according to location (ex. ‘Station72 - day 1’; ‘PlanetX - day 15’) and resets with each location change. If that seems disorienting and confusing - good. (Note: characters are welcome to keep track of time differently.) additional reading: 1

WHO ARE THE MODS AND HOW DO I CONTACT THEM? Abby and Donna are your co-moderators. See the mod contact page located HERE. Avali is the list mod who helps us keep lists up to date and helps us with Activity Checks.

WHAT KINDS OF CHARACTERS CAN I APP AND WHEN? WHEN DO RESERVES OPEN? WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THE CHARACTER CAP AND HOW MANY CHARACTERS CAN I PLAY? Station 72 is a plot heavy game that focuses on a close knit community of characters. As such, it is designed to be a very small game with a maximum cap of thirty-five (35) players. Players are currently initially allowed to play one character in game. Should they meet established activity requirements, they may apply for a second. Further, there is a cast cap of four characters maximum from the same canon.

At this time, applications are always open and there is no reserve list. Applications will remain open until the game's cap of thirty players is reached, at which time a queue will form and applications will be processed as drops open slots.

    Appable characters include:
    • Canon and original characters
    • Doubles and In-canon alternate universes. There may be up to two of the same character in game, however they must be sufficiently different from one another whether it by canon universe or in canon circumstances. All alternate universe and canon variations count toward this rule, meaning that if there is a Nolanverse Batman and a comicsverse Batman in the game, you cannot app Adam West’s Batman. You can however app an Inquisitor from Dragon Age Inquisition even if there is one other Inquisitor in game as long as the decisions made in your playthrough are sufficiently different. However, you may not app doubles of a character that has no canon variation - so if a bookverse Harry Potter is in game, you may app movieverse Harry Potter but you cannot app a second bookverse Harry Potter.
    • Non-humanoid characters may be apped, but be prepared for IC challenges. Very large characters may find their accommodations on the Station 72 restricted, characters with specialized diets may find they're stuck eating the same kind of food over and over again, etc.
    • Characters dead in canon. Dead characters are appable as long as they can be rescued before their moment of death and have sufficient canon material to clear the headcanon rule. Characters who are undead (vampires, ghouls, etc) may be apped as-is as long as they have a physical form the symbiote may engage with.

    Nonappable characters are:
    • Characters under the age of 12.
    • Purely synthetic characters. If the character has any biological component whatsoever that the symbiote can attach and interface may be acceptable, but purely mechanical characters cannot interface with the symbiote.
    • No ghosts or non-corporeal characters. Similar to the above, you need a body for the symbiote to attach to.
    • No fan characters from existing canons. This excludes characters from canons such as Dungeons and Dragons, Destiny, etc but prohibits you from apping an OC from the Harry Potter universe.
    • No CRAU.
    • No real people, living or dead. However, heavily fictionalized versions of real life figures may be allowed (ex. Hamilton from the musical Hamilton is not appable, but Abraham Lincoln from Abraham Lincoln Vampire Killer is).
    • Characters whose canons aren’t available in English in any form.
    • Characters whose apps would require more than 2/3rds headcanon.

If you have any questions or concerns as to whether the character you have in mind is appable, don't hesitate to contact the mod team!

DO YOU TAKE CHALLENGE APPS? No, not at this time.

IS THERE A LIMITATION ON HOW SOON I CAN APP FROM A PARTICULAR CANON? We ask that you wait two weeks from the North American release date before apping from a new canon. The exceptions to this rule are if there is no proposed North American release planned for the canon in question, in which case simply default to two weeks from its general intended release.

HOW DO CHARACTERS ARRIVE IN GAME? Characters and/or their worlds are attacked by an obviously deadly force. What this force looks like, how they manifest, and the extent of the damage they cause to the character's world or supporting cast is up to the player. There are two constants: 1) the entity (or entities) is obviously trying to kill the player character; most characters will be very aware of this fact, and 2) before that can happen, a mysterious stranger appears to rescue them. Once the player character is rescued, they black out and have no additional memories until they wake up on the Nesting Deck. For a more detailed run-down of the rescue, see THIS post.

ARE THERE POWERCAPS? Character’s canon abilities are allowed in game, but may require scaling to fit the setting (ex. no powers that can destroy a city block in one fell swoop, area effects must have a time and/or range limit, etc). For powered characters, please include suggested scaling for abilities in your app. The IC reasoning for this is that the symbiote cannot channel a certain amount of power without shutting down; think of it as a muffler on your car. In very rare circumstances, player characters may choose to use their full abilities despite the power scaling, however be aware that it may cause catastrophic symbiote damage which would result in longstanding consequences for the player character (brain damage, death, etc). Anyone interested in a temporary lift of their power scaling should contact the mod team.

WHAT ARE THE ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS AND HOW OFTEN DO AC CHECKS HAPPEN? Activity checks happen once a month beginning on the 1st and ending on the 5th. If you fail to respond to the check in that time, you have through the 7th to respond to the warning list posted on the 6th. Players who don't respond there will be swept from the game after the time window closes.

To pass activity check, you must make thirty (30) comments of any kind. You may use from two to five threads to reach this goal. Threads in IC Links (aka inboxes) DO count toward AC, however only half of your total comments (15) can be mental link comments.

If you fail to meet activity, you may request a strike. To sweep your strike, you must submit 40 comments (in two to six threads) for the following month's AC or be dropped from the game.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I HIATUS/DROP?/IF I IDLE OUT? Characters who are hiatused can either be autopiloted or go into a medical coma as a result of their body attempting to reject the symbiote lifeform. When dropping, characters do not return home. Rather they either go into a semi-to-permanent coma and are kept in storage on the Station and are capable of being re-apped by at a later date; alternatively, players may choose to kill off their characters. NOTABLE DROP PROCESSING EXCEPTION: If the dropped character had less than five IC comments thread in game with another player character, the character's presence in the game will be retconned.

If you idle out of the game without using the drop post, your character will be in permanent medical coma. Players who idle out are not allowed to app again for two months from when they've idled out.

PLEASE NOTE: Players may take however many hiatuses they like, but they cannot be exempt from two AC periods in a row. Example: Player A goes on vacation in July. They hiatus and are exempt from the July AC check. In August, they hiatus for a week because of busy RL circumstances; they must still make the AC requirement for August or take a strike towards their activity.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WANT TO RE-APP A CHARACTER I DROPPED BUT THEIR CAST IS CURRENTLY CAPPED? In light of the current population of the game and the rate of applications, we've decided to allow re-apps on capped casts as long as it's been at least two months since the character was originally dropped. This MAY change in the future if we feel the game is becoming unbalanced.

WHAT'S PLAYERCESTING IS HOW DOES IT WORK? Because of the tight knit IC nature of the game and the ability for a single player to have up to two characters, there may be unavoidable instances where a player must play their two characters off one another. This is called playercesting and while it breaks no rules, playercest tags may not be used toward AC.

HOW CAN I QUALIFY FOR A SECOND CHARACTER? To qualify to app a second character, a player must make double AC (60 comments) for three consecutive months, then fill out and PM the mod team this form:

There are no wrong answers for this form - it's merely to make sure anyone apping a second character has given how they plan to play two characters in the same limited game space some serious consideration. Be aware this may not be a straight approval/rejection step - consider this step more of a casual round table with us where we may opt to give some feedback

Once this form has been approved, the player may submit their character application on the application page and it will be processed as usual. Please don't post your application prior to getting approval from the mod team.

ARE THERE LIMITS ON WHAT'S APPABLE FOR A SECONDARY CHARACTER? A player's second character may not be from the same canon or in the same brood as their first character.

HOW DOES DEATH WORK? The Multiverse is dark and full of terrors. Except in very specific plot-related circumstances that may or may not arise, death is permanent and constitutes as a permadrop. A player cannot re-app the same version of a character they've killed in game, however new players may. If a player plays MCU!Bucky Barnes and kills them, they may app in with 616!Bucky but may never re-app MCU!Bucky. Additionally if a player kills their character and wishes to app a new character back into the game, they automatically get a reserved slot for them. This auto reserve slot mechanic may be used up to to two times and may not be used within six months of each other. This is to encourage character death as a viable game and plotting mechanic for players who wish to continue playing in game, but don't want to risk losing their slot given the tight game cap.

HOW DO CANON UPDATES WORK? They don't. Choose your canon point carefully, friend.

WHAT ARE AWAY MISSIONS LIKE AND HOW LONG DO THEY LAST? Away missions are hugely variable. They may involve all characters or only some; they may include visits to other planets or consist of starfighter dogfights; some will be diplomatic missions and others will require force; some will last a few weeks and others could last for months. That said, most away missions will require teamwork to complete successfully. That is-- if you want to complete the mission to the Nest’s desired parameters…

HOW DOES MY CHARACTER USE THEIR SYMBIOTIC ABILITIES AND HOW CAN THEY EARN MORE/STRENGTHEN THEIR POWERS? CAN I CHANGE MY CHARACTER'S ABILITIES? All player characters will enjoy a a few basi enhanced abilities as a result of their partnership with the symbiote. Additional abilities may be unlocked either through character action or through earning Ability Points (AP) with bonus activity. Please be aware that not all side effects of enhancing the symbiote’s power may be considered good things. For a comprehensive look at the symbiotic abilities structure, please see this page. For more information about Ability Points, see this page.

A character's ability cannot be changed, however characters who develop a close connection to the Nest have the ability to "borrow" powers from other hosts for short intervals.

HOW MUCH CAN MY CHARACTER DO BEFORE I NEED MOD APPROVAL FOR MY PLANS? Short answer: you can do whatever you want as long as you're prepared for the potentially far-reaching consequences (both positive and negative) that might come from your character's actions. That said, be considerate of your fellow players. If you're planning a plot that could put player characters in harm's way or you think might fundamentally alter the game calendar, giving the mod team a heads up is very helpful! The mod team is VERY eager to integrate your ideas and will do their absolute best to help streamline the execution of player plots. In an ideal world, our goal as moderators is to try and respond to all plot ideas with either a "Yes! But here's what might happen if you do--" or a "Not quite like that, but here's a bunch of ways we CAN make it happen:--"

(For those bloody minded individuals out there - yes, killing NPCs is on the table. If you feel compelled toward murder, shoot the mod team a PM.)

DO THE SYMBIOTES HAVE PERSONALITIES? CAN CHARACTERS FORM RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM? No and not really. A relationship with your symbiote is a relationship with the Nest. The symbiote is a tool more than it is a sentient creature. However, the connection has a sensation of being pleasant.

CAN THE SYMBIOTE BE REMOVED? Yes, though it is strongly discouraged. Think of it as your character giving themselves a very rudimentary lobotomy with similarly... stunning results.

CAN I PICK MY BROOD? Broods are randomized during application processes and not chosen by players. However, if you foresee problems (conflicting play styles, etc) with someone in your application round, feel free to alert the mods and they'll make sure you don't end up in the same brood.

WHAT ITEMS DOES MY CHARACTER ARRIVE WITH? WHAT DO THEY GET IN-GAME? Characters arrive in game with any possessions they have on their person at the time of their rescue including live animals, etc (the exception being other appable characters - so if you have a cat in your arms that's fine, but if the cat can talk that's probably not viable). On arrival at the station characters will receive one (1) pair of space pajamas. Characters will have opportunities in game to get new stuff. additional reading: 1, 2

MY CHARACTER IS WOUNDED/HAS A DISEASE/IS PREGNANT ON ARRIVAL - HOW DOES THAT WORK? Upon arrival, wounded characters will find themselves on the road to recovery - minor to moderate wounds will have been healed completely, though characters who suffered major physical harm before or during their rescue may find they still have some minor healing to do. Luckily this is the space future and you have a symbiotic creature invested in your survival so most characters should find they heal at a slightly accelerated rate; most will be completely healed within an IC week if left to their own devices. Diseases are NOT cured on arrival and characters will have to manage their health accordingly. Similarly, characters who arrive pregnant will find themselves... still pregnant. Being the space future, there are in-game resources to cope with, cure, or eradicate a number of status effects but characters must find those solutions for themselves in game. additional reading: 1

MY CHARACTER HAS MULTIPLE PERSONALITIES AND/OR ANOTHER CONSCIOUSNESS - DOES THE SYMBIOTE AFFECT THAT? Symbiotes can only bond with a single mind or consciousness. What this means is that characters who share a body with another entity - a demon, a canon hivemind, a ghost that sometimes possesses them - will only be able to connect to the telepathic network and mental enhancements through their own consciousness. Additionally, as the bond with the symbiote is strengthened characters may find that they are losing connection to the other entities in their heads; over time with sufficient closeness to the Nest, those secondary consciousnesses may be forced out entirely by the nest and symbiote and no longer accessible to the host's mind. Characters with multiple personalities are unaffected.

THE N E S T

THE MULTIVERSE

THE MULTIVERSE is big. Really big! If you can dream it, it probably exists. Sometimes there are galactic communities and sometimes there are lonely planets. Sometimes there are humans and sometimes there are not. Sometimes the places there look identical to the places you know. Sometimes a universe has all of these and sometimes none. However, there is one universal constant: in no universe does there seem to be anyone who concretely knows the multiverse exists. Each universe is a bubble, a pocket. The only outside force in play is the Nest.

--Except you know that isn't true, don't you? After all, something else came for you... didn't it?

THE NEST

THE NEST is the hivemind entity of which you (hosts) and the symbiotes are but a small part'. Think of it as a singular telepathic body, with hosts and symbiotes as a strand of hair or sensitive nerve ending. You are part of it and it is part of you; it has no coercion over you just as you have no control over it. The only way to change the Nest is to change yourself. As you adapt to it, it adapts to you. For those willing to change, that means becoming divorced from your individuality and sublimating your personality into the greater hivemind; for those unwilling, it requires a constant balance - how far do you let yourself go to get what you want? How far can you go before what you want changes?

All this said and done, there are three universal constants when it comes being a part of the nest. They are your telepathic connection to other hosts, your connection to your brood, and your base symbiotic ability.

     TELEPATHY
Every host can communicate telepathically with any other host. It can be messy (you may find yourself saying or showing more than you mean to at first) and come with some nasty side effects (nausea, lightheadedness and headaches) if stretched too far, but most find that with practice the ability can be honed into usefulness.

From an OOC perspective, telepathic communication takes the place of a more traditional game network. There is no division of audio, text, or visual types of communications and players are encouraged to get creative with how their character’s telepathy manifests.

     BROOD DYNAMICS
You and the five (5) hosts from the spawning chambers closest to your own make up your brood. If the Nest is a tree, your brood are the hosts which share the same branch as you. Hosts will find that telepathic communication with their brood comes most easily, whereas mental communication with hosts outside the brood can come with unpleasant side effects if the host’s connection with the Nest and their symbiote hasn’t been sufficiently strengthened. Your broodmates are likely the first hosts you’ll be able to share emotional and physical experiences with (voluntary or otherwise - oops!). Further, if you choose to strengthen your connection to the Nest to the point that you can borrow others symbiotic abilities, your brood’s will be the abilities that come most easily to you.

You are encouraged to strengthen the bond with your brood. While some might view the mental connection between them as a potential weakness, they can also be your greatest allies in the field.

From an OOC perspective, your character’s brood will almost always be characters from the same app round as yours. They are your character’s default team, though nothing requires your character to be happy about who belongs to their brood or to even work with them in the field. In terms of strengthening the connection to the Nest, it benefits characters to do so; however for characters more focused on their individuality apart from the hivemind, it may do them good to keep their brood at arm’s length. Further, be aware that when a character drops, the empty space they leave in a brood is never filled; it is completely possible to end up with no broodmates whatsoever.

     SYMBIOTIC ABILITIES
There are two primary subspecies of symbiote, each of which manifests different abilities in their hosts. Iota specializations enable the growth of physical abilities - biological armor, superhuman strength, increased speed, enhanced reflexes, etc; Rho specializations enable the use of extracognitive abilities - telekinesis, pyrokinesis, time manipulations, etc. Each host is capable of learning only one ability, but strengthening the bond with the symbiote and the Nest can eventually allow hosts to borrow abilities from others.

What this means OOCly is that when apping, you must pick whether your character has either an Iota- or Rho-type ability and what it is. If you’re feeling adventurous, you may list up to three possible abilities and the mod team will choose for you. If you’re feeling really ballsy, you can opt out of choosing all together and the modteam will surprise you with your specialization and ability.

At the app stage, all symbiotic abilities should be strongly limited (characters who can control time can only slow it down and only for a thirty seconds; characters with enhanced speed find they have to rest for an extended period of time to recharge the ability, etc).

These abilities can eventually be strengthened through both IC action and through the use of ABILITY POINTS. You can find a more detailed guide on how the Symbiote skills work and how they can be upgraded HERE.

STATION 72

YOUR HOME away from home. Station 72 is allegedly one of many waystations for the Nest, though no one on the station has ever seen or heard from another station or any host who lived and worked on one. In some respects, this is worrisome - even those who tie themselves closely to the hivemind have few insights as to the broader extent of the Nest’s peace keeping efforts through the multiverse. But it’s a big place. Perhaps this is normal.

Station 72 is a moored point where many layers of the multiverse meet. It’s technically a space craft, though it’s difficult to tell what’s fabricated and what’s organic as Station 72 was grown, not built. Its interior is made up of a series of cellular hexagonal shaped structures, though often the scale of these structures may be too large for characters to visually discern. Though rarely seen, the exterior of the station resembles a cosmic beehive. That said, Station 72 isn’t ignorant to the needs of its organisms. Over the years, it’s equipped itself and has been stocked with the the tools and and functions that humanoid life requires to thrive. Though the design aesthetic is strictly insectoid, services and devices on the station are fully evolved to be used by a variety of lifeforms. Bunks, mess halls, communal washrooms and a swanky jai alai court are just a few of the "necessities" the station is willing to provide.

Though it's difficult to get a real sense of scale in the station due to it's complicated structure, Station 72 is adequately sized and outfitted to house hundreds of hosts and their equipment (ships, weapons, etc). At its current occupancy, the Station can sometimes seem eerily overlarge. New hosts will sometimes find the Station difficult and slow to navigate. There are no windows and no doors.

Primary features of the station include:
     NESTING DECK
The nesting deck’s primary function is implanting and nurturing the physical bond between symbiote and host. It is where all new hosts first wake up and where medical procedures, should they be necessary, are typically performed. However, there are multiple benefits from utilizing your nesting pod on a regular basis! The atmosphere of the nesting deck is perfectly calibrated to attune symbiotic life with their host. For those looking to strengthen their symbiotic abilities, spending time hooked into your nesting pod is a good option. Further, while most find the concept too alien to stomach, it is perfectly possible to make your bed (literally) in your nesting pod.

     FLIGHT HANGAR & UTILITIES
Though Station 72 is a spacecraft, it is largely incapable of in-dimensional propulsion. As such, missions tend to require smaller space craft. The Station has a number of different vehicles in its stable, most of which are sourced from outside the Nest and fitted to integrate with the Station’s systems. There are, however, a few Nest-grown starfighters though they can only be operated by hosts with a strong connection with the hive and their symbiote.

The flight hangar also is home to the utilities department which is where hosts can find specialized equipment available to them. These include a variety of weapons (sometimes peacekeeping requires force), defensive equipment and outerwear, etc. As with the vehicles on the ship, most of the equipment here has been collected from different destinations in the multiverse however there are special items that can be used by those with the proper ability levels.

     TRAINING WING
Here hosts have access to both more traditional exercise facilities as well as spaces designed for Hosts to learn and strengthen their new abilities. There is a pool - bring your own water wings.

The training wing is a central hub with a number of hallways that branch out in a spiraling fashion spanning multiple levels. Below are a list of some of the amenities:

• Lockers - Featuring rows of open cubbies, shower spaces, a bathroom, towels, and sets of shoes for those of you without proper footwear. Hosts visiting the lockers for the first time will receive their station-standard charcoal grey suits, which are tailor fit to their exact measurements. These suits are flexible, strong, and surprisingly breathable, and are comfortable enough to wear all day.

• Track - Centrally located there is a large running track that is multiple lanes wide, the ground of which is coated in some sort of slightly rubbery, gripping substance.

• Gym - Located not far from the lockers is an almost traditional gym space, with a number of pieces of exercise equipment, some of which is familiar and some of which is not. There are instructions that will read in a pleasant voice if you seem lost. You will find both strength and cardio equipment arranged in a somewhat sensible manner.

• Training Hall - A large open space with a number of pads on the floors and walls and a wide variety of dummies and protective gear. This is the space where you will find melee practice weapons ranging from swords and pikes to slightly more exotic weaponry- all blunted or dulled- as well as room for most forms of martial arts.

• Range - Lying closest to the Flight Hangar, this room features a number of targets and projectile training weapons. Here you will find everything from bows and arrows to laser guns. Every weapon is live and fully functional when pointed downrange, however a safety mechanism prevents them from being fired in any other direction or to be taken from the range. All heavy ordinance is strictly monitored and must be checked out with the permission from Prince or Cathaway.

• Pool - It’s a pool, there are lanes, so swim free. Please don’t drown. There is no sauna. There are two styles of suits available, a simple charcoal one-piece with white piping, and an equally simple charcoal swim briefs with matching white piping.

     BRIDGE
The bridge is the main control point for Station 72’s functions, though anyone familiar with a starship’s bridge will be sorely disappointed. The bridge on Station 72 is a small almost perfectly circular chamber with a tall ventilated ceiling. It has no equipment of note, no screens, and no wiring. Rather, the station’s controls are entirely regulated through the connection to the hivemind. Suffice to say, most hosts are incapable of altering the Station’s systems or performances.

     CIRCLE GARDENS
At the center of the station is a series of tiered gardens with many forking paths. Look at some life that isn't wired into your brain; it’s good for you.

     LIFE SUPPORT
For those who might find bunking down on the nesting deck too weird to handle, life support is where more traditional housing can be found. The space is primarily filled with gently arched doorways without doors lining the walls, and each one opens to a small, nearly normal room with a single bed. Most of the rooms are vacant, but every room presumed to be occupied will contain feature a collection of useful items- mostly hygiene supplies, some familiar and others less so. They also feature a flat horizontal ledge beside each bed with a small light and a single drawer and a simple desk which is formed into the wall with plain chair. A mirror is found on the desks; slightly mundane and not quite to the Station’s style. Each 'room' is large enough to house one individual comfortably, however it might be possible to convince the ship to hand over some more evolved quarters with a little persuasion and a lot of connectivity to the Nest. Life support also has washing facilities and standard communal areas. In general, Life Support's systems and compartments are the closest Station 72 gets to normal. If you squint really hard, you might be able to convince yourself you're on a standard starship and not some semi-biological amalgamation of one.

     RECREATIONAL WING
Hosts cannot live on weird alien stuff and meditation alone. If there's one universal truth, it's that eventually someone somewhere will think it's a great idea to bring home a ping pong table. Entertainment on Station 72 tends to be physical in nature (games, sporting activities, etc) but there's also an assortment of mundane crap to be found here as well - card decks, a small library, etc. The collection is a mishmash of time periods and different levels of technology. If you're getting the sense that these are all things someone left behind, then you'd be right.

PLOTS + QUESTIONS

Station 72 is built with intimate and powerful character relationships in mind; player character action propels the plot more than the reverse - as such, player plots and suggestions from the playerbase are something we not just welcome but value! Help us help everyone by utilizing this page to make player plot plans, mission suggestions, and provide general feedback for how the game is running.

This page will also be used to create a database of all Mission specific questions and plot relevant character actions. If you have a question that pertains directly to a mission or want your character to do something that requires mod feedback, please ask it in the relevant sub-thread so it may be easily referenced in the future.

When asking character or action specific questions, please be sure to only ask questions pertaining directly to your own character/their actions. The only exception to this should be if you're plotting specifically with another player(s) and you've both(all) contributed to the planning/execution of the character action or player plot. This is to avoid unnecessary confusion and to minimize the possibility of questions being answered only to have the information fail to reach the relevant parties.

APPLICATIONS

APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY [QUEUEING].

Applications are always open and will remain so until the game cap of thirty players has been reached. There is no reserve period. Once the game cap has been reached, applications will form a queue that will be processed as drops open character slots in the game. Apps are processed on a first come, first serve basis with the exception of current players apping secondary characters. Because Station 72 doesn't accept challenge apps, if more than one app is posted for the same character then the first app posted will be fully considered first; any consecutive apps for that character will only be considered if the initial app is declined.

CURRENT PLAYER COUNT:
30/35

CAPPED CANONS:
The 100

To apply, use the form below and submit your application as a link below. DO NOT EDIT APPLICATIONS after posting them. Minor edits (correcting typos, etc) are fine, but large scale rewriting will result in a rejection.

Applications will either result in an acceptance, a revisions request, or a decline. In the case of revisions or declines, we'll do everything in our power to be clear and concise regarding what we'd like to see in your revisions or in your next application. When making revisions, please clearly mark the revisions you've made (highlighting, italicizing, etc).

APPLICATION

GUIDELINES

PLAYER INFO
Name: Your name!
Contact: Your preferred method of contact, be it plurk, PMs or smoke signals.
Are you over 18?: Station 72 may deal with mature themes; as such, all players must be over the age of 18 to play.

CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: The character's full name in western order please!
Canon: If applying with an OC, please put 'Original' in this section.
Canon Point: The point from which you are playing your character from. Something like 'the end of episode 12' or 'During the hot air balloon chase sequence' will do.

Appearance: A brief description of your character's physical appearance. You may include a picture or gif either in addendum or to substitute a written a description.
Age: Your character's age. Reminder that no characters under the age of 12 are appable. If your character appears a different age than they are (ex. they look 18 but are actually 300), note it here.

Setting: A brief overview of the world your character comes from. This section should be enough to give us a general overview of how the character's world works and give us an understanding as to how the environment may have shaped the character. Wikipedia links are acceptable for canon characters if available.
History: What has your character done? What's happened to them? If the setting section details where they live, the history section is to detail how they lived. While you're not required to give us an itemized list, make sure to detail significant events that shaped or effected your character. Wikipedia links are acceptable for canon characters are long as they have more than one paragraph of information. Please try to keep this section to no more than 2000 words.
Personality: The most important section of the application, the personality section is meant to detail how the character thinks, feels and acts. What are their motivations? What inspires them? What are their goals in life? Make sure to provide canon details to support your claims wherever possible. This section should be at LEAST three healthy paragraphs long. Please try to keep this section to no more than 2000 words.

Canon Abilities/Skills: If you character has abilities, skills or powers of note, please list them here. Please make sure to put your character's powers in list form and to clearly explain each. Characters with superhuman abilities or powers that can affect a large area, a large number of individuals, or in general have powers that are typically considered "game breaking" should have suggestions for ability scaling where appropriate. If you have questions or concerns about this section, don't hesitate to contact the mod team for clarification.

ON STATION 72
Symbiote Specialization: Iota or Rho?
Symbiote Ability: Your character gets one specialized symbiotic ability. Please list it here along with three stages of its development - the basic version of the ability, the intermediate version, and the advanced. Each stage should be clearly defined with strengths and drawbacks to each. Remember that other players will eventually be borrowing these powers from your character, so make sure anyone can figure out how it works from the stage description. While you're not required to strengthen the ability at any time, this gives us an idea of your ability expectations should you pursue them.

REMEMBER: Iota-type abilities are things you do with your body (phasing through walls, skin turning into armor, accelerated healing, etc); Rho-type abilities are things done with the mind (telekinesis, stopping time, psychic healing). While there may be some abilities that fall into a grey area, as long as you can make a logical argument for why an ability fits into one type or another you're probably good to go. Further, BE AWARE that host vs. host ability use may have some wonky side effects or be less effective than host vs. non-host usage.

Inventory: Your character may bring anything they have on their person along with them, including dangerous weapons, armor, their favorite plant, their pet snake, etc. Characters must be capable of carrying the object (so no cars, no ponies, no giant robots, etc) and actively holding/wearing/in possession of it at the time of their rescue.

SAMPLES
Sample Thread: ONE sample thread with at least six tags from you. Additional samples are welcome! Samples from any source (test drives, memes, personal museboxes, other games) are acceptable are long as they're less than a year old. Ideally, we're looking for a good combination of dialogue and introspection.

Rescue Write-up:
An in-character writing sample of the events that led your character to be rescued by the hosts of Station 72. This can be as brief or as detailed as you like. For guidance as to how this works, see this section of the FAQ.

EXAMPLE APPLICATIONS:
